Dr. Langellier will only recommend tooth extractions as a last resort. But if you need a tooth extracted, we'll do everything in our power to ensure your procedure runs smoothly. We'll also provide you with after-care instructions for a comfortable recovery.

If a tooth is broken or damaged by decay our dentist will try to fix it with a filling, crown, or other treatment. Although, sometimes there is too much damage for our dentist to repair the tooth. In this case, Dr. Langellier will recommend extraction.

You may need dental extraction if you experience:

  • Having extra teeth
  • Loose teeth
  • Baby teeth that don't fall out on time
  • Crowded teeth due to a lack of room in the jaw
  • Dental infections
  • Cracked teeth

What to Expect

First, we'll give you a local anesthetic so you don't feel any pain during the procedure. Once you're numb and comfortable, we'll extract the tooth.

Dr. Langellier will then place a few stitches over the extraction site. Next, he'll have you gently bite down on gauze to apply even pressure.

As you heal, your body will form a blood clot over the extraction site. It's important that you don't disturb this clot as it will act as a temporary band-aid as your body recovers. Be sure to follow the aftercare instructions from our dentist.

Next Steps After Tooth Extraction

Once you've healed, we recommend scheduling a consultation with Dr. Langellier. During your appointment, he'll help you explore various tooth replacement options.

At Bowtie Dental, we offer both dentures and dental implants.
