When our natural set of teeth just aren’t making us as happy as we’d like to be, Bowtie Dental in Grand Rapids, MI has both removable partial dentures and fixed partial dentures for patients in need of either of the two.
Removable partial dentures consist of replacement teeth attached to a gum-colored acrylic base. Dr. Langellier will design a partial denture for you based on your needs. Partial dentures may have a metal framework and clasps that connect to your teeth, or they can have other connectors that are more natural looking. In some cases, a removable partial denture is made to attach to your natural teeth with devices called precision attachments. Precision attachments are generally more aesthetic than clasps.
Fixed partial dentures are more suitable for you if you’re missing one or more teeth. A fixed partial denture or bridges can help restore your smile. A bridge replaces missing teeth with artificial teeth and literally “bridges” the gap where one or more teeth used to be. Bridges can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain, or a combination of these materials and are attached to surrounding teeth for support. An implant bridge permanently attaches artificial teeth directly to the jaw or under the gum tissue.
Dr. Langellier and his team at Bowtie Dental will evaluate which type of denture is best for you. By keeping your remaining teeth strong and healthy, either type of dentures will give you the confidence you deserve!
